El Cazador to Missoula Midtown, Toast to Hip Strip

We’ve known for awhile that El Cazador in Missoula was planning to open up a brick and mortar location on South Avenue near the Mall. In fact, they’ve been making renovations and had their taco truck on site throughout the past year.

But now, it looks like they are getting closer to opening. The building has passed final inspection and their liquor license is pending. We’re definitely excited about some of our favorite mexican food coming to midtown.

Nearby in the Southgate Mall, it looks like Trailhead is closing up shop. That makes sense, as their brand new building is open just across the street. Francesa’s has also moved out of the Mall and has been replaced with Golden Leaf Apothecary.

Unfortunately, Christopher & Banks will be disappearing from the mall as well, as the company is closing all 450 store locations throughout the US. Both Trailhead and Christopher & Banks are still open as of this taping in February 2021, but you might want to head down soon if you want to stop by either location one last time.

In some more positive news, Opportunity Bank has made a big move from their Reserve Street location to the 1821 Building on South Avenue.

Opportunity Bank will occupy the ground and part of the second floor of the building. They’ve renovated the entire main level and it looks amazing. We do have some office availability on the 3rd floor of this iconic building if you’re looking to make a move to Midtown.

Finally, it looks like the space formerly occupied by Iza on the Hip Strip has a new tenant. The concept is pretty straightforward: the main menu items are fancy toast combinations and it’s called, well, Toast. While toast is the feature, you can also get coffee, salads, and pizza. We’re looking forward to checking it out, even if we have to brave bridge construction to get there.
